ROAD: Rotational Angiography Device |
Concept developed under SBIR/NIH Funded Grant Granted US Patent #5,408,521 Design Goal: To obtain clinically useful 3 dimensional information on the spatial distribution of cardiac vasculature, and the geometry of eccentric lesions. This is accomplished in real time during an interventional imaging procedure, typically with only a single injection of contrast media. Features - Large 42" bore and 2-axis pivot
- +/-45° cranio-caudal angulation
- Continuous rotation with slip-ring technology
- Unlimited RAO/LAO positioning
- Variable rotation speeds
- Acquires an image every 1 degree at 30°/sec.
- Acquires an image every 2 degrees at 60°/sec.
- All moving components completely enclosed
Benefits - Protects patient and operator from components rotating at high speed
- Performs any catheter-based diagnostic or interventional procedure
- Replaces many biplane procedures
- Reduces radiation exposure to patient and operator
- Reduces patient contrast media loading by at least 4X
- Eliminates need for modeling approaches by using real clinical data
This device or system is developmental in nature and not yet available for purchase.
